East Bay Municipal Utility District (EBMUD) is seeking a seasoned Senior Systems Programmer to act as an Oracle Database Administrator with extensive background in provisioning and managing multiple single-instance databases (non-RAC), performance tuning, backup and recovery. This person will join a team of Systems Programmers (acting as systems engineers) that support the core infrastructure hosting business critical applications and databases. This infrastructure consists of Oracle (Sun) servers, Solaris 9/10, NetApp storage, Linux and VMware vSphere systems.
We are seeking candidates with a solid, thorough understanding and EXPERT level experience with two or more of the following:
- Advanced Oracle Database administration, troubleshooting and performance tuning (configuration, table space management, tuning, RMAN backups and recovery)
- NetApp storage management (CDOT) with Brocade switches
- UNIX/Linux administration and troubleshooting (Solaris 9/10, RHEL, Ansible)
- Administration of VMware vSphere clusters
The ideal candidate will be well versed in Oracle Database (10g/11g) configuration and performance tuning hosted on Solaris and Linux operating systems, NetApp CDOT administration, OS administration and tuning, and extensive shell scripting.
1. Bachelor’s degree
2a. *Three years of experience programming business applications for computer systems, at least two of which were in systems programming; OR
2b. *Two years of experience in systems programming, one year of which was at a level comparable to or higher than the EBMUD class of Systems Programmer II.
3. Ability to serve in a rotation of 24/7 on-call support
*A bachelor’s degree in computer science that has included accounting courses may be substituted for one year’s experience programming business applications.
