Job Description:


Responsible for designing, implementing, administering, monitoring and troubleshooting the organizations network, telecommunications and video conferencing infrastructure throughout the Wide Area Network (WAN), Local Area Network (LAN) in datacenters, corporate offices, disaster recovery site and all retail offices. Establish, document and maintain policies, procedures and standards. Effectively communicate with peers and other teams to report and resolve quality, hardware, software and operational issues. Monitor the performance, security, and implement necessary changes in a timely and effective manner. Assist in the development of strategies and solutions consistent with organizational objectives.


Essential functions of the position include but are not limited to:

1. Customer Service
Take the necessary steps to ensure our customers' needs are met to the maximum extent possible in an accurate and timely manner. Work with support staff to provide on-going support, including the development of technical documentation. Work to consistently document resolutions in the organizations ticketing system. Assist others to provide expertise in diagnosing issues as requested. Provide support and training for team members as requested. Actively participates or leads assigned team projects fulfilling task assignments, meeting deadlines, and proactively seeking attainment of team goals.

2. Engineering
Responsible for the design, configuration, installation, maintenance and management of network and telephony related devices and software including but not limited to: routers, core switches, retail switches, wireless, firewalls, load balancers, WAN optimization, IDP, DLP, VPN and monitoring products. Responsible for all aspects of the voice communication platform including but not limited to; Communications Manager, UCCX, Cisco Presence, Cisco Emergency Responder, Cisco Telepresence, voice gateways/routers, MS Lync/Skype integration, physical phones, softphones and monitoring and reporting products. Ability to design and administer voice mailbox systems, preform phone station moves/adds/changes, and ability to create and update ACD scripts to meet the business needs required. Responsible for providing timely assistance to critical production issues and provide hands-on support when work volume dictates.
Level 21B: Responsible for moves, adds and change requests related to routers, switches, wireless devices physical and software based phones, voicemail accounts and video conferencing requests across the organization.
Level 23B: In addition to “Level 21B”, responsible for implementing and managing networks in a multi-site redundant datacenter, LAN, WAN, MAN network devices. Responsible for advanced telephony management that also include moves, adds and change requests related to ACD users, ACD script changes. Expert ability to design and configure routers, switches, voice gateways and firewalls.

3. Architecture and Disaster Recovery
Responsible for designing and automating disaster recovery processes for the core network and telephony services for the organization. Ability to manage all network and telephony equipment, circuits, carrier services as it related to a disaster recovery site. Responsible for minimizing downtime and loss of productivity to customers while maximizing the return on investment.
Level 21B: Responsible for managing backups and preforming regular disaster recovery tests for all network and telecommunication devices, software and services.
Level 23B: In addition to “Level 21B”, responsible for managing network and telecommunication services that enhance the mobility and reliability for our network and telecommunication services. Accountable for managing high availability geographically redundant solutions for critical network, voice and collaboration systems.

4. Connectivity and Health
Select, implement, monitor and manage secure network and telecommunication services with authorized partners including but not limited to; private MPLS, VPN, SIP, PRI, POTS and point to point connections. Ability to effectively troubleshoot connectivity issues and perform necessary resolutions. Coordinate and manage interactions with vendors, carriers, contractors and external resources to assure timely problem resolution regarding all organizational locations. Regularly recommend changes to ensure that the infrastructure is meeting the business’ needs while searching for increased reliability, quality and efficiencies. Responsible for cost verification and budgeting assistance for all network and telecommunication services.
Level 21B: Responsible for implementing, monitoring tracking and managing network and voice connections
Level 23B: In addition to “Level 21B”, responsible for designing, implementing and troubleshooting secure network and voice services and regularly recommending security and performance improvements. Work with carriers and providers to design and implement geographically redundant, secure network and telecommunications services. Demonstrate advanced troubleshooting ability and is able to quickly isolate root issues related to voice and video communications.

5. Security
All levels are responsible for monitoring and implementing necessary security best practices across the organization’s network and telecommunication environment. Recommend and implement security improvements based on current technology security standards and offerings. Monitor for unauthorized access and report unauthorized access to leadership. Ensure security updates are tested and applied to the environment in a timely and repeatable fashion. Maintain backup images of all network and telecommunication devices for timely recovery.

6. Industry Trends
Evaluate current hardware and software products and make recommendations relative to their usage within the organization. Monitor advances in hardware and software technology and work with others to make enhancements. Assist others in the procurement process of hardware and software. Ensure that technical proficiencies are kept current and attend vendor/industry-related training events to keep abreast of emerging technologies and trends.

Level 21B
Ideal candidate will have at least an associate’s degree in the networking field or related area with 0-3 years of related experience using and directly supporting end users in a LAN/WAN environment. Ability to demonstrate basic understanding of software and device management for switches, routers, wireless, voice services and firewall technologies. Have the ability to demonstrate understanding of network and telecommunications services and be able to perform adds\moves\changes when requested. A certain degree of creativity and latitude is expected. Ability to work effectively in a team environment and effectively demonstrate team building attitude and skills. Cisco experience preferred.

Level 23B
Ideal candidate will have a bachelor’s degree in Management Information Systems or related area and 3+ years of experience with current technical certifications such as CCNA, CCNA+ Voice, CCVP or higher.
Demonstrate expert experience designing, implementing and managing networks and voice services in a redundant multi-site LAN, WAN, MAN environment. Experience executing upgrades with the organization’s network, voice and video communications systems. Has a detailed understanding of various networking technologies that include; routing, switching, wireless, firewall appliances, WAN optimization and VoIP services. Experience with power, voice and data cabling selection and installation that comply with industry standards. Ability to effectively architect, implement, integrate and manage network and telecommunication systems that support the enterprise. Demonstrate expertise working with routers, wireless, switches, voice gateways, voice servers, firewall and WAN optimization. Expert ability to isolate root cause issues when troubleshooting complex enterprise level support requests. Proven ability to mentor others throughout various cross functional and technical projects. Ability to effectively facilitate discussions and serve as a technical resource for complex projects or difficult troubleshooting requests. Ability to work effectively in a team environment and effectively demonstrate team building attitude and skills. A wide degree of creativity and latitude is required
